German Province St. Francis
Because the Congregation had grown considerably, on November 25, 1953, the Congregation was divided into member units: Generalate St. George, St. Francis Province in Germany, St. Anthony Province in the Netherlands, St. Mary Province in Japan, St. Elizabeth Vice-Province in the U.S.A., St. Joseph Vice-Province in Indonesia.
The German Province St. Francis includes all of the mission houses in Germany except the Thuine area, which belongs to the Generalate St. George. At present there are about 30 mission houses with about 180 sisters. The seat of the Provincial Superior is in Fürstenau-Schwagstorf.
